In accordance with regulations introduced in Dec 2002 it is required that you know of all asbestos containing materials present within your building. Once you know this you are to produce a management plan so that it can be followed in order to prevent exposure of asbestos fibres to any person within the building.

In order to do this a survey needs to be carried out. Once this survey has been carried out, monitoring of all materials staying in situ needs to be undertaken on a regular basis. The monitoring forms part of your management plan. The deadline for works to be complete in order to comply with the current regulation was 21 May 2004.
